Tina Fey: American Maverick

American writer, actress, comedian, producer and playwright Elizabeth Stamatina “Tina” Fey was born in Pennsylvania on this date in 1970. After honing her improv skills at Chicago’s Second City, Fey began her tenure at Saturday Night Live in 1997, ascending from writer to Weekend Update host to featured performances that culminated in her classic portrayal of Sarah Palin. After penning and co-starring in the movie hit “Mean Girls” (later a 2018 Broadway musical), Fey went on to create both “30 Rock” and “The Unbreakable Jimmy Schmidt” for television, as well as a memoir, “Bossypants”. Fey has received 9 Emmy, 3 Golden Globe, 5 SAG and 7 WGA awards, among many others.
