Early Television: Fireside Theatre

4/5: On this day in 1949, Fireside Theatre, a popular American television show that ran on NBC until 1958, premiered. Using stories largely based in material in the public domain, the program employed such talents as writers Rod Serling, Ray Bradbury and Gene Roddenberry and directors Fred Coe, Blake Edwards and John Ford.
