Bob Dylan: Americana Pioneer

Born Robert Allen Zimmerman in Duluth, Minnesota in 1941, Bob Dylan made a pilgrimage to visit his idol Woody Guthrie in New York City in 1961 and began playing out in the burgeoning Greenwich Village folk scene. After a couple of largely acoustic albums in the early 60’s that pegged him as a ‘protest singer’ and young voice of conscience, Dylan famously “plugged-in” at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival, and was catapulted into rock stardom with such hits as “Like a Rolling Stone”, continually re-inventing himself over the following decades.  Still touring into his 80’s, Dylan counts among his many accolades the 2016 Nobel Prize for Literature.
