America Hits the Road: Jack Kerouac

3/12: American novelist and poet Jack Kerouac was born in Lowell, Massachusetts on this day in 1922. Kerouac’s most famous work, On the Road (1957), was drawn from journals of trips he took across the U.S. and Mexico with Neal Cassady in the late 40’s and 50’s. The book is representative of Beat Generation literature and has only grown in influence through the years.
